It's
getting to be that time of year again
where we will be determining assessment
amounts. As many of you know, the
September timeframe will require a large
outlay of money to cover our early meet
expenditures. We are currently working
with Melanie to finalize the budget.
Although we don't have the final
numbers, it does appear the residual
VGBC funds will not come close to
covering our early year meet fees.
Therefore, please expect the first
assessment of the season to be
distributed early August to be due by the
15th of the month. The exact amount will
be determined soon.
One
thing even less fun than paying the
assessment, is tracking people down to
pay. It's not fair to the other member
families who do pay on time and it's not
fair to the VGBC Board. That said, we
have implemented a stricter policy. In cooperation with the Apex
owners, the gymnast of any family who
has not paid, or made arrangements to
pay, within 10 days of the assessment
due date will not be permitted to
compete in any meet until payment or
arrangements for payment have been made
with the VGBC treasurer.
In addition,
as stated in the Handbook, if a gymnast
leaves the team, the VGBC member is
responsible for the assessment for the
last quarter in which the gymnast was a
member. i.e., if the gymnast leaves in
November, the VGBC member is responsible
for the 2nd Quarter assessment.
The
sincere hope is that this policy will
never need to be enforced. A large
majority of our families do pay on time,
every time. And while we hate to hold
things against the girls, with the
issues we've encountered in the past, it
was decided we needed consequences that
would get people's attention. If anyone
has questions, etc. I encourage you to
contact us (or any board member)
directly. Thank you all for your
attention in this matter.
